I'm filled with so much gratitude. I don't feel like I'm higher than this award than other nominals or anyone else in this room, because we share the same wish and that's love for the movie. And this form of expression has given me the most extraordinary life. I don't know where I'd be without him.

But I guess the best gift [film] has given us, and many people working in movies, is the possibility of using our voice to people who have no voice. I've been thinking about some of the more serious subjects we're facing collectively, there's Periscope.

Sometimes I think we feel or are made to feel like we're champions in different matters. But for me, I see community. I mean, whether we talk about gender inequality or racism or gay rights or indigenous rights or animal rights, I think we're talking about fighting injustice.

We're talking about the fight against belief that one nation, one people, one race, one race, one species, one species, has the right to dominate, used and controlled by another without punishment.

I think we're completely connected by the natural world. Many of us are guilty of self - centered thinking, believing that we are the center of the universe. We rush into nature and plunder its resources. We give ourselves the right to artificially conceive the cow and steal her baby, even though her bonds of anguish are heard. Then we take her milk that she needs to go to the calf and put it in for our drinks and cereals.

We fear the idea of personal change, because we think we should sacrifice something; give up something. But human beings in their best interests are very creative and inventive, and we can create, develop, and implement changing systems that can benefit all beings and environments.

I've been a freak my whole life, I've been myself. I've been cruel sometimes, hard-on to get, and I'm grateful that a lot of people in this room gave me a second chance. I think at this point we're at the best of our own: helping each other. Not when we reject each other because of past mistakes, but when we help each other grow up. When We teach one another to forgive.

When he was 17, my brother [Riveri] wrote this text. “Run to salvation with love and peace will come. ” /Periscope
