The new Kosovo government has promised to lift the 100 per cent tax for Serbian and Bosnia and Herzegovina goods in exchange for reciprocity with Serbia.
The decision, which is also promised by the election campaign of the two ruling coalition parties, is expected to be made as soon as possible, even because of US and EU pressure, which want to pave the way for starting dialogue with Serbia.
So far we're in terms of patriotic diplomatic planning.
The problem is how concretely it will be done, as the 100 per cent tax is nullified with a decision, while reciprocity is the process.
Reciprocity with Serbia is actually the essence of the entire negotiation process with Serbia. The entire agreement simply means reciprocity - free movement of goods, people, recognition of diplomas, liberalisation of the labour market, and the entire agenda of the Minisenen project.
It is disgusting how you cannot travel from Kosovo to Serbia, if you go from Albania, it is humiliating how to put a paper on license plates if you have a Kosovo license plate car, it is racism that they do not recognise in Presevo a doctor's degree from Kosovo, full of other stories produced by Serbian nationalist minds.
One may be removed for a day, and the other may become, for a long time or perhaps never.
To say that I will remove it in exchange for reciprocity sounds very dignified but also very dogmatic to further the process.
The right word that could lead to negotiations is we're going to take it out in exchange for the US and EU promise of reciprocity, because if you say I'm going to take it off when we've put in reciprocity, you're going to say I'm not going to take it off, or, as Ramush says, “
And if they do not remove it, let them not remove it, but do not create vain expectations.
The tax was actually set to block talks prompted by American pressure, despite the patriotic facade you wear. And that was well understood by the US and the EU.
Now if it's to be removed under their guarantees, it's another issue, shared by this literary promise that will be removed in exchange for reciprocity.
That Kosovo government that will establish reciprocity with Serbia is the government that will ultimately unrecognise Kosovo as an irreversible process. So far we're all clear that it's a long road and with many conditions.
I am inclined to believe those who say Albin Kurti is a strong negotiator, but the fact that he surrendered and to Isa Mustaf, I do not hope to believe he will defeat Vucic.
Until then, Kosovo must maintain its alliance with the US and the EU as a balance of strength.
And here the whole process enters an uncertain area.
The zero hour of the US and EU tax removal is not the hour that Serbia has recognised Kosovo. If that was the clock, it's fine, and we wait that day. But to that day, it's not possible to go to the tax.
Kosovo's government is afraid that it itself is unclear about this situation, as the LDK is more on the US side of the EU, and Kurti is more at the trap of its populism.
Now, however, is no longer the time to listen to a map, but real acts that bring realistic expectations. There is no reason for anyone to lie to us, that even the tax will be removed, and reciprocity will be placed within the day.
At least make a list of priorities, which means starting reciprocity. Final resolution has been recognized by Kosovo by Serbia. And so far, if you go with the tax in force, but without the US and the EU in hand, I know who will take Albin seriously.
