Five people from Britain, including one child, have been hospitals in France after being infected by China's new virus during holidays in the Alps.
Saturday's statement by France's Health Minister is the latest example of how the virus can spray many borders, China reports.
Five British citizens were staying at a home in the French Alps resort and were in close contact with another Briton, who apparently contracted the virus in Singapore and when tested for the virus by returning to Britain, has resulted in positive results. So French Health Minister Agnes Buzyn told reporters Saturday.
This case brings the total number of cases of viruses to France at 11.
The new strain of coronary has infected more than 34800 people worldwide and left more than 700 dead in China after the first diseases were discovered in December.
Five young British citizens with the virus are being held in Lyon hospitals, along with six other Britons who were in close contact with them and are now being monitored, the French Health Ministry said.
France's prime minister convened a separate government meeting Saturday to discuss the next steps in fighting the virus.
