Serbia's Minister of State Administration and Local Power, Marija Obradovic, has said today that she has rejected the Komunal Assembly of Bujanoc proposal, that incumbent Minister for Foreign Affairs and Europe Gent Cakaj, be declared <x0-city honourary” from this municipality. Obradovic, during Serbia's Parliament hearing, has indicated that he has signed the decision to reject the demand.
According to her, a person who openly appeared against Serbia cannot be an honorary citizen in one of the municipalities in the country.
Her full speech:
“Gent Cakay, I'm upset/disturbed when I answer to this subject when something is not right. Gent Cakaj did much for Albanians, he brought them together, helped them not to fight for the first time, and when there was a struggle for national counsel among Albanians, among their representatives, he really helped them. He's an honorary citizen for them, but he's somewhere else. The person who wants to continue the division, what he managed to do in Kosovo and Metohija, and to fight it so that Serbs don't get what they deserve, I can't let him do it now in Bujanoc.
I don't know what else will follow, I don't, personally. I urge you to support this idea and to think only rationally of the people who have opened up against Serbia. Should such a man be an honorary citizen? Think about this”.
