Lulzim Basha owes an explanation to Albanians for KLA

The president of the many-day Democratic Party is under the public opinion and Albanian media projectors, in connection with his individual role, during the time he worked for investigators that “copes” files for which Kosovo Liberation Army leaders are currently in The Hague.

All have spoken so far, both in Tirana and Pristina. In both Belgrade and Moscow. Even in Brussels and Washington. Except for Lulzim Basha!

Due to the sensitivity of this issue, due to the actuality of a process that has placed the entire KLA chain of command on the docks of the accused, due to past purity and future glory, Lulzim Basha owes an explanation to Albanians.

Even if it were just a ordinary citizen of the Republic of Albania, Lulzim Basha owes a public explanation to Kosovo citizens, in respect of himself.

Even if he were a simple politician, Lulzim Basha owes a public explanation, in respect of the Democratic Party and all those who have been voting for him for 30 years.

Even if it was simply the chairman of another party whatever and everywhere in the space where Albanians live and work in the Balkans, Lulzim Basha owes them a public explanation.

But if you are also the leader of the largest political opposition Party in Tirana and Albania's candidate for prime minister, then this is no longer a simple but tax obligation option.

In this case Lulzim Basha is neither suspect nor accused, but simply the only one convicted to clear from “A” in “His role and position in this story. Whether for the “episode The Yellow House” where it was said that human organs transplants were made. Whether for Dick Marty's Dosage, which served as the mechanism to get all the stones that led to the establishment of this Special Court.

No one can judge the implications of Lulzim Basha in something that, however innocent or guilty she is, since she has not yet exposed all the irrefutable evidence. But that does not favor him at all, to hide forever behind this alibi. The less, to hide behind the defense that is about to do so far, avoiding confrontation with truth, through propogans and demagogues.

I've put my whole life in the service of the country. For Albania. For Albanians. For the independence of Kosovo. You can't lecture me about patriotism. You cannot teach me what loyalty to Albania is”,- Lulzim Basha said today, in response to a public controversy over the issue, with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

But is all of this enough when it comes to clarifying a concrete activity? To clarify a key episode of the work of today's opposition leader, in a certain period of his professional life? To shed light on concrete work, on concrete issues and with equally concrete individuals, who publicly claim the presence and role of Lulzim Basha in this story?

If it were not a matter of national importance beyond the obligations of political chosen ones, this moment could have been overcome. But when required to be tarnished not simply and only the individual image of the former president, of its two former prime ministers or of many other political leaders of these 20 years, but the purity of the Albanians' struggle for Kosovo's liberation with the help of NATO, the US and the EU here changes the issue.

Beyond everything, Lulzim Basha is doomed to give full explanation for his position in this story. The sooner, the better it will be, even for him. Over the past 30 years, developments have taken place from far and wide, but as embarrassing as the position of political protagonists in them has been, they have failed to avoid clarifications on matters of public interest.

Lulzim Basha cannot make any exception to this rule. Otherwise, it is futile to enter the electoral race tomorrow, Prime Minister of State of all Albanians!
