EULEX spokeswoman Joan Lachana declares in an interview for Abc that people want rule of law.
Lachana in her address has stated that the arrests are made by the specialised prosecutor's office, not EULEX.
The arrests are made by the specialised prosecutor's office, not EULEX. This is the position of the EU mission for the rule of law in Kosovo, which confirms that the unit supporting the arrests is Polish. EULEX is also clear that whoever committed crimes must face justice, but the judicial process must be fair.
I would also say that rule of law plays an essential role here. And we would like to see anyone committed a crime held responsible in a fair process. We follow the security situation extremely closely, and we are in constant contact with the other two responsibilities, Kosovo police and KFOR. In order to maintain readiness and have the opportunity to react, if required by the Kosovo police, there are regular training for control of riots and crowds, among the three responsible Kosovo police, Euex and KFOR. One of them is actually happening today”, Lachana is saying.
Meanwhile, about how the arrest of the special prosecutor will affect the security level in Kosovo. EULEX's spokeswoman believes people want rule of law.
I see that people here want rule of law to disrupt. They're engaged. And when they see it's the right process, then this is something they always take into account. What I can say is that we always see if there are changes, so. Let's wait and see”, she said.
