Richmond, who had represented the southern district of Louisiana for nearly 10 years and who played a key role in Joe Biden's presidential campaign, was appointed as senior adviser to the elected president and will become director of the White House Office for Public Action. It should help advance the administration's legislative agenda on climate change, and also address the state's response to the coronary pandemic.
At a press conference during Tuesday, Richmond, 47, announced he would resign from Congress to assume this position.
