The Jewish state was reportedly involved in the January 3rd operation, providing information to Americans.
Israeli intelligence confirmed the information provided by Syrian airport carriers that Suleiman boarded the plane that night flying from Damascus to Baghdad.
The NBC cites two familiar sources with the operation and unnamed American officials.
As the plane landed, four rockets were fired by a threat in the vehicle the general entered.
Israeli media reported a day after the attack that US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of US plans to kill Sulejmani.
Pompeii called Netanyahu on January 1st and thanked him for Israel's support in the conflict with Iran and after the attack on the American Embassy in Iraq.
The next morning, before leaving for Athens, Netanyah hinted that a lot of dramatic” things are happening in the region.
Hours later, Sulejman and Iran-backed Iraqi militia commander and several other senior officials were killed, and Israeli media and New York Times reported that Netanyahu was the only foreign leader who knew about the operation.
Earlier, agencies reported that many Syrian and Iraqi agents had allegedly given Americans information leading to the murder of Suleeiman, including two security guards at Baghdad Airport and two employees of the private Syrian airline, Ham Wings.
