Chairman The PDK and the candidate for future prime minister, Kadri Veseli, have reacted sharply to the provocative statements Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq made tonight after an incident that took place on the bridge over the Iber River in Mitrovica, where a Serb youth has remained injured. Wessel estimates that Vuciqi's statements are aimed at affecting Kosovo's security and undermining regional stability, while calling on Belgrade to stop provocations.
Kadri Wessel's full reaction:
The game that Alejandro Vucic is playing, for his narrow interests and for domestic political consumption, is at the expense of our Kosovo Serb fellow citizens. His statement today is aimed at affecting Kosovo's security and undermining regional stability. Therefore, I call on Belgrade to give up provocations and leave our Serbian fellow citizens at ease. On the other hand, I strongly condemn the ordiner crime committed today and appeal to law enforcement bodies so that as soon as the event dawns and bring those responsible to justice. Albanians and Serbs have no problems in Shrpca, Gracanica, Novoberda or many other countries where the overwhelming majority of the Serb community in Kosovo lives. Problems exist only where Serbia is interested in causing conflict. Kosovo is a democratic, multi-ethnic European state that guarantees maximum human rights and non-ethnic communities and will by no means allow the creation of artificial walls of interethnic division or hatred. In this case, I assure our Serbian fellow citizens that Kosovo is the state of all those living here and will take the same care of everyone everywhere they live.
