Trump suggested more than in one case that the U.S. Army had to bomb hurricanes in order to break up before they hit the ground.
According to the American news site Axios, the president spoke at a meeting with leading people of national security about the threat of hurricanes: “I understand. I get it. Why aren't we hitting them with nuclear bombs? ”
“They start forming on the coast of Africa, then moving toward the Atlantic, we throw a bomb inside the hurricane's eye and break it down. Why can't we do that?
Citing anonymous sources at the meeting with the president, Axios reports that an official's response had been “We will see. ”
Axios further reports that Trump had raised the same issue in another case with senior officials of his administration. This conversation was recorded on the National Security Council in 2017 using the term <x0 nuclear” in reference to it, sent to Periscope by The Guardian.
In an article entitled “Let's bomb nuclear weapons to the hurricanes: The surprising story of a rather bad idea, the authors explain that the response from the authorities to the issue had been unnecessary “to say, that is no good idea. ”
The White House had refused to comment on Axios' reporting. /Periscope
