Serbia released 14 Albanian civilians' assassin three years ago, Kosovo institutions react

The convicted of executing seven children in the yard of a house in 1998-99 in Kosovo was released from prison in Serbia three years before his sentence ended. In the Government of Kosovo, they have expressed indignation at this release, meanwhile, they have declared that there is no reconciliation with Serbia until criminals are released.

Serbia's move, giving early release to crimes convict Miodrag Solaja, the Kosovo government is taking him for mockery with war victims.

Jahja Luka, adviser to Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, said it is proving that Serbia is not interested in justice and is only playing games for its benefit towards the European Union.

“We are indignant with this release and should be said to be continuing for its own benefit to the European Union as if it is condemning criminals, on the other hand they never carry the sentence, although such a sentence for 14 Albanians killed 15 years is punishable by a criminal and not to carry the sentence is absurd, and this is again proving that Serbia has no justice and plays different games to win eventually from the EU, whether it condemns criminals and they are released, not double murder for all who have suffered<1> he said.

Miodrag Solaja had fought within the unit known as “Scorpions”, during the 1998-99 war in Kosovo.

According to Luka, “The Scorpions” is thought to have committed other crimes in addition to killing 14 civilians.

There can be no reconciliation with Serbia until criminals are released. And it's bad with the talk, but if an Albanian is worth 10 months or 12, then what justice this is and what reconciliation they require”, he said.

He also considers the decision absurd for only 15 years in prison for Miodrag Solaja until it was known that he had executed 14 people.

For his release, Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Enver Hoxhaj also reacted, who said Serbia is constantly mocking war victims.

Serbia is constantly making fun of war victims! He has done this in Bosnia and is continuing to do so with Kosovo! These days in Serbia has been released from prison, three years before the end of the sentence, the person who has been charged and convicted of killing 14 Albanian civilians in Kosovo. Five children were rescued from this crime, including Saranda Boguyevci. The release of the Serbian criminal is evidence that Serbia is continuing to play on the nerves of all the plans, even the military one!” has written Hoxhaj.

Miodrag Solaja was sentenced in 2008 for participating in the killing of 14 civilians in Podujevo, Kosovo, on March 28, 1999.

“Scorpions”, who served Slobodan Milosevic, were then being placed in abandoned homes in Podujevo, where they found three Albanian families.

They lined them up and shot them to death, where 14 of them died and five children survived, including Saranda Boguyevci, today deputy in the Kosovo Assembly. “Scorpions” killed seven minors and shot Boguyev in 16 bullets.

Miodrag Solaja was sentenced to 14 years in prison after a year's detention. Belgrade's Supreme Court awarded early release on July 23rd this year.
