The Democratic League of Kosovo, the oldest party in Kosovo, is holding a second race, following the party chairman's non-competitive election, the one for the candidate for prime minister.

While it seems like a democratic act, it is really a deformity of democracy and a strong indication of its lack, which does not really bring him any good.

The real race for a party is the race to which the party chairman is elected. The Democratic League of Kosovo elected Isa Mustaf with applause, so without competition.

I don't question his legitimacy, and I could have voted him if I were a member, but if there's someone at the party's helm who votes with applause, I don't know why he's not a candidate for prime minister.

Moreover, Isa Mustafa has been prime minister and mayor, following a long experience as former finance minister in the government in Exill.

Health reasons if they apply to the prime minister should apply to the party chairman as well.

So if he has health problems, it's not good to be a party speaker either. The fact that he sacrifices “to hold the party leader without competition makes this new race ridiculous, where Vjosa Osmani and Abdulla Hoti of Lutfi Haziri, who and if they win in the party, never become prime ministers, since they will have to bargain with coalition parties.

This situation is abnormal, and it is a false show which more harms the LDK and its divisions than strengthens the image of a candidate for prime minister.

The real race is needed to elect the party leader and he must represent the party in battle. This theory that “somebody holds the keys to the tower and someone has to keep the straw”, is an expression of the lack of real political representation in the party, which will unfortunately harm the LDK, instead of helping it.

In the first week of October, when voters choose who will be government, they understand when they vote for Albin Kurti, Ramush Hardinaj or Kadri Veselini, but when they vote for LDK, they are aware that Isa Mustafa will find someone to the government.

This is a sign of how hard the LDK has to change and pave the way for a new generation of politicians who can rebuild it.

The race within the LDK is more a race that seeks to conceal its power to democratise. And when such severe defects tend to be powdered with fake racing, just perfecting defects, not leadership.
