With music and sunlight, many citizens had come to enjoy contestants ' leaps from hundreds of feet high.
The chairman of the Gjakova municipality, Ardian Gjini, opened the race as a very important event for the city he leads and all of Kosovo.
Because next year we're going to have seven decades of this sport there's nothing that could be more traditional, more continuation and passion for this sport. Once it was only Gjakova's now became all of Kosovo”, he said.
Part of the opening of the race was Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Burbuke Bakija, who said this race is the most attractive in Kosovo and will continue to support it financially.
The Ministry of Culture has been supporting this race for two consecutive years and will be ready for this race to be supported and next year and traditionally done and”, she said.
Meanwhile, the host of this race, Avdyl Osmani, said that for this year there is no favour in winning the race.
“This is an activity held in the 1940s this is the 69th edition being held this year for dances from the French Bridge. Nothing is new, this is a traditional competition that is taking part by Gjakova, and not only”, he said.
The racer, at the same time last year's winner, Florid Gashi said they did not have much opportunity to prepare, but, in spite of that, he voiced optimism that he would win.
We've prepared very little, since time's been running out of time, because we have a very good time. This year I believe there will be competition. I believe so, since even the races will be opened with an acronym”, he said.
The competition, and for this year, has been divided into two categories of foot dancing and tern.
