Tension at National Theatre, police surround building, but rejected by protesters

But this act of blue uniforms has been opposed by the Alliance for the Protection of Theatre and other citizens who have long stood guard of the building.

They have rejected police intervention and have demanded their departure from the theatre space.

Currently, the situation appears calm, though protesters and police continue to stand face-to-face.

For more than a year, the Alliance for Theatre Protection opposes the Government's plan to break up the building, which they say is cultural heritage.
