The 75 deputy ministers of this government, along with their escort staff, according to civil society representatives, already have no practical function, writes Koha Ditore today.
According to them, they represent the concepts of a resigned government and as such are only a burden to the state budget. They have demanded that most positions be erased as unnecessary until they have stressed the need for the Law's approval of Government.
According to an analysis by the Group for Juridical and Political Studies, in 2018 in 21 cabinets of ministers had been employed by about 350 people and that during that year, nearly 6m euros were paid from Kosovo's budget.
Throughout the government, outgoing Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj has named dozens of deputy ministers to several ministries, even five or six. Two such Haradinaj has nominated him a day before giving up his resignation. Kadri Kastract has appointed deputy minister to the Ministry of Defence, while Myzeye Selmani has appointed deputy minister to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Rural Development.
