MPs have another chance tomorrow to support athletes, will they be recalled?

Tomorrow will be held the extraordinary session in which it will be tried for the third time to vote in second reading the corporate Tax Bill and the 5th Amendment vote proposed by the deputy Bekim Haxhiu's PDK, which enables harmonisation and functioning of the Sponsorization Law.

The second-read draft vote of the Corporation Order Taxation Bill has failed on two occasions, where opposition MPs have not participated in the vote. This bill had once managed to get 60 votes, and has received 55 votes last week.

Do not vote on this bill by opposition MPs has received numerous criticisms from athletes, where it is said they are not voting a bill that paves the way for investment in Kosovo sports.

MP PDK Bekim Haxhiu, who is the proposor of the 5th amendment that enables the functioning of the Sponsorisation Law, says opposition MPs due to political calculations are damaging athletes.

“have been basically problems of political calculations, because part of the deputies of the opposition LDK and Vetevendosje parties have not voted so far or abstained, have remained in session, but have not participated in the vote at all, due to evidence that the position does not have all numbers. Therefore, even this amendment has not received the necessary votes to pass in two cases, in one case it has managed to get 60 votes per one for one has not passed, and in the last case it has received 55 votes, for 6 votes it did not pass. The amendment that I have made, the 5th amendment to the Law on Taxation in the Orders of Corporations that enable the functioning of the Law on Sponsorization and harmonisation, that is, harmonisation of these two laws between them, I have made for the only purpose, because the previous mandate has passed the law on sponsorships regulating in detail sponsorship in the field of culture, youth and the port, and it has been necessary to harmonise it with the law on corporate income. So we have done this to make it functional, because the allowed discounts that are provided with the law for sponsorship are lowering taxes from which athletes take direct advantage of”, Haxhiu told KosovaPress.

This, according to him, would give a boost to the development of sports. He said sportsmen are the ones who are making the country proud every day, so they should also be in their service.

Even though I think the law has been able to be implemented by ATK, because even with the past law it says that if this issue is regulated by special legal action then it can be calculated, but there has been no willingness from the former finance minister and I think that we have done the right job, we harmonise it by voting the 5” amendment, he said.

MP Haxhiu believes MPs will reflect tomorrow and vote to help and develop the sport.

At last week's tax hearing in Corporation Orders and the amendment proposed by MP Bekim Haxhiu had failed to pass. AAK MP Blerim Kuci had voted against it.

Kuci for Kosova Prees has said he has not voted against the Sponsorisation law, nor the Tax Law in the Orders of Corporations, but against the amendment proposed by MP Hadziu.

The law hasn't been voted, because we haven't been able to vote it or tried to vote the law. Mr. Haxhiu did, there was no quorum and I was against it in principle, because I was against within the Commission and convinced, and to this day I am convinced that that that law, as the Commission has proposed, is better than an amendment that Mr. Haxhiu. MP Kuci has suggested where the law differs with the amendment proposed by MP Bekim Haxhiu's PDK.

I am expecting those deputies who have voted the Sponsorisation Law to reflect because racers and athletes for the sweat they shed in the exercise deserve to have support for this law as well, Kuka said yesterday after coming from Belarus.
