Kosovo's ambassador to Washington, Vlora Citaku, has once again demanded the end of UNMIK's mandate, saying there is no reason for continuing the work of the UN mission because Kosovo is already an independent state and does all its tasks.

During talks at the UN Security Council session on UNMIK's regular work in Kosovo, Kosovo's diplomat stressed that it would be better for resources to be divided into UNMIK to be used elsewhere.

Kosovo has been right in the case of declaring independence and there has been no violation. The situation in Kosovo in 2019 is much different than when UNMIK came. Our country is becoming more integrated in the international community. We see no reason for continuing UNMIK's mandate, as Kosovo governs itself. Can anyone in this room tell me what is the work of UNMIK currently in Kosovo. The resources set aside for this mission would be better used elsewhere. Kosovo police operate with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity, and is a creditable partner in fighting organised crime and terrorism to prevent dangerous plot”, Citaku said.

She has talked about Kosovo Police action 28 May in the north, with the goal of fighting organised crime and corruption.

“In line with the tribunal's request and with instructions from the special prosecutor's office, Kosovo Police have conducted 19 arrests, of 11 Serbs, four Albanians and four Bosniaks. Police officers have been suspended from work and Kosovo police have not faced resistance except in Zubin Potok, where they faced shootings from Serb-set weapons and roadblocks. In this case, police have arrested seven civilians, among them a UN diplomat of Russian nationalism. He has used the UN's official vehicle to deploy the barricade to prevent Kosovo police from carrying out their task. He has used the vehicle to transport an engine-share, which is used to cut down trees that have been thrown onto the road to prevent the Kosovo Police's passage to Zubin Potok. He deliberately placed his vehicle in front of these trees to spot the barricades. He has refused to co-operate and has denied to provide identification documents. In the days following, he has been denied his stay in Kosovo and he has been transported to Belgrade”, Kosovo Ambassador to Washington Vlora Citaku said.

Furthermore, it has indicated that all relevant authorities have been reported on the operation in the north, while seeking investigations into the UNMIK member's move, which has prevented the Kosovo Police from performing its work.
