Krasniqi stressed that NGOs and women activists were those who offered support to women raped by Serb forces in Kosovo.
It's a very sensitive issue because it's a very human issue. I've heard hundreds of stories and met over dozens of women who were raped. It's very hard to hear, but we have to put ourselves in that position. Sexual violence has been systematically used in Kosovo as a means of war. There was no differentation, it was a war machine, to leave behind the stigma and all this wound. How long there are wars there are even sexual violations, and now the entire world has begun to target this as a war crime or a crime against humanity”, she said in Klan Kosova.
According to her, all this has been silent by the Kosovo institutions themselves.
What we have seen is that after the war this issue is silent from Kosovo institutions. NGOs were those women activists who offered support to this category by offering medical assistance and psycho-social assistance. In 2013 there was a turning point in Kosovo, but we saw that we were not willing to discuss the issue. It is completely political around us and the discussion is not focused so that we don't further affect them or traumatize them”, she said.
