Ylfete Fanay, most voted MP in Lucerne

“I am very happy: with 6908 votes won, I have achieved the highest result in the town of Lucerni and have been re-elected (in Canton's Parliament). We have three more seats (as a SP party) and all four newly elected ones are women. Cheers! This post was made on her facebook Ylfete Faja page, which thus convincingly wins the third mandate at the Lucern Canton Parliament.

More than that, it has won four candidates from the FDP, all from other canton areas outside the town of Lucerni.

Even its party, the SP, has scored a very good result, winning three more seats in parliament. On the other hand, right-wing parties, SVP, CVP and FDP, which are usually favourites in this canton, have marked a sharp decline, with 7 cases of 4 and 3 countries less won.

The biggest victory has been realised by the Green Party (Grüne Partei), which has doubled the number of seats in parliament -- from 7 as it has so far, to 14.

Remember: Ylfete Fanay has been deputy for eight years in the Cantonal Parliament, while shortly thereafter she has also been elected chief of the Social Democrat Party Parliamentary Group in parliament.

Born in 1982 in Prizren and arriving in Switzerland in 1991, Ylfette Fanay was the first Albanian female to have been elected to the municipal and cantonal assembly level in this country. She is also Switzerland's first Albanian in general, elected chief of a parliamentary group at any level.

Fanaj has been active in politics for a long time. She, since 2011, has been an MP for the Social Democrat Party in the Parliament of Lucron Canton. Prior to that, she represented the same party at the Lucerni City Assembly.

Fanaj has been the first Albanian woman in Switzerland, elected to a canton parliament and municipal assembly.

For a time, Rainette Fanay was also head of the Swiss-level Second@s organisation.
