Two decades after the end of the war Kosovo has been exporting triple more goods to Serbia than it is importing, all thanks to 100 per cent tax
The tax imposed on products of Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the end of the year we left behind for the first time after nearly two decades has completely changed the trade balance between Kosovo and Serbia. Official data for the month of January and February of this year tells of the drastic decline in imports, while on the other hand we have solid export growth in the countries in question.
According to official data, during the first two months of this year Serbian companies in our country have imported products worth 1.3m euros, until during January and February 2018 imports from this country were more than 61m euros, Zeri writes.
If we make a simple comparison between the first two months of 2018 with the first two months of 2019, there is a decline in imports of less than 60m euros. But on the other hand, always referring to official statistics to Kosovo businesses have steadily increased the export of their products to the Serbian market.
During January and February of this year, Kosovo exports to Serbia have reached the value of 4.3m euros. According to official statistics, imports from Serbia had reached the value of 449m euros during 2018, until Kosovo exports to this country had reached 48m euros
