In February 2018, Albania's Assembly authorised that within 90 days the negotiating group, with representatives of the Ministry of Finance and Infrastructure, reach an agreement with the union of Turkish operators “Cengiz”, “Callion” and <x4Colin Construction”, currently writes “Koha Ditore<7>.
According to the Albanian Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, the agreement failed to be finalised, as the Turkish company demanded that the Albanian government pay it 4.5m euros per year in a row as guarantees for the lack of passenger flow, while the Albanian government was determined not to grant more than 2.5 million annually, so negotiations with Turkish companies, which expressed interest in building and managing this work, failed to get the green light.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy says that the interest from investors at this airport has been great, and that the race will contain the conditions: construction-opposition-transference for the company that will win. The firm, which will build the airport, will receive its operation for 35 years and will then transfer the work owned by the Albanian state.
