Thaci: We allow electoral policy bullshit to affect relationships with the United States.

The president of the Republic of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has today attended the Second Diaspora Summit, which gathered many of our fellow countrymen these days in Tirana.

President Thaci has said the Albanian diaspora contribution has been extraordinary, both for the democratisation of Albania and for Kosovo's freedom and independence, as well as for advancing the rights of Albanians in Macedonia, Montenegro, Presevo, Bujanoc and Medvedja.

The head of state has said that our state has just marked the 11th anniversary of independence and has a total of 116 international recognitions, as well as is members of about 200 international organisations, but that we have to move faster.

Kosovo does not have just friends and partners, such as the United States of America, NATO and the European Union, but there are also opponents of independence that slow down the consolidation progress, in particular external, of the state of Kosovo. What I can say is that Kosovo has made extraordinary reforms, whether in politics or economics or legislation. But this progress is also your contribution and that of all Kosovo citizens”, President Thaci has said.

The country's first has added that we are now in a new situation, at a convenient moment, when Kosovo with the full support of the United States of America, the guidance of the European Union and in full co-ordination with its friends, is preparing to enter into final dialogue with Serbia on reaching a comprehensive agreement.

The implementation of Kosovo institutions is to reach a comprehensive agreement on normalising relations between the state of Kosovo and Serbia. An agreement that will guarantee mutual recognition between the state of Kosovo and Serbia, as well as Kosovo's membership in the United Nations Organisation. We all know what Serbia has done in Kosovo. Here I also see fellow fighters with whom we have been in the stages of war against the Serbian military and police. But, at the same time, we have also known that we are both wise and responsible, and very determined to reach important agreements, both in Rambouillet, where the way has been opened to the bombing of Serbia, and in Vienna where the process of independence of Kosovo has been opened up to the”, he noted.

President Thaci has said it is natural to have different ideas, but that he will not allow in any circumstances the organisation of an international conference where Russia is participating as well.

He has added that Kosovo will only engage in a process where the European Union leads and where support from the United States is complete.

“Under no circumstances and at no price will allow the idea to circulate any further, although I am very kind of discussing ideas, the idea of any Balkan Union. I reiterate that the idea of creating any Balkan Union is to violate our nation. It's a violation of our orientation's Euro-Atlantic values. The idea of a Balkan Union is going back for our nation. The Kosovo Union, but also of the Albanian nation, is Union of the European Union, NATO and eternal friendship with the United States of America”, President Thaci has said.

At this summit, the head of state has also talked about ideas that are surrounding the exchange of territories.

Kosovo's <x0.0nd Division, without violating my body, cannot be done. No one will be able to affect a millimeter of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. No one will be able to affect Trepca, neither Mitrovica, nor Wyman, and no part of the territory of the Republic of Kosovo”, he has said.

On the other hand, President Thaci has said it is for the correction of borders and the union of the Presevo Valley with Kosovo.

There is no one in the world who denies my commitment to realising the aspirations of the legitimate rights of Presevo, Medvedja and Bujanoc for associating with the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, without violating the territory of the Republic of Kosovo. Of course, we are in a Status Quo and a frozen conflict that we must overcome. We now need together with the United States of America, together with the European Union and NATO, to move faster towards the Euro-Atlantic perspective so that Kosovo can be part of NATO and the European Union. We, together with our friends, should look directly at a solution that guarantees recognition by the five European Union countries, by Greece, Romania, Slovakia, Cyprus and Spain. So, I stress once again that we will not, as well, allow, under no circumstances and at no cost, that no electoral policy bullshit will affect the special and life-long report with the heeders of Kosovo's freedom and independence, the United States of America”, President Thaci has said.

At the Diaspora Summit in Tirana, President Thaci has praised the great contribution of our countrymen living and operating around the world to strengthening two Albanian states. /Periscopi/
