He is believed to have passed away later in the night. Italian authorities have launched investigation into the murder of the boy's parents, who are originally from Ghana. Meanwhile, autopsy is expected to be carried out on the infant's body.
The tragedy follows what happened in December of the year we left behind in Rome, where, as a result of circumcision in a immigrant centre, a 2-year-old lost his life due to bloodshed. His twin brother survived after being placed in intensive care.
Circumcision is not a common practice among Catholic Italians. But many immigrants living there are Muslims and practice it for cultural and religious reasons.
Some have difficulty performing this procedure at the hospital. That is because for some price it is high, why doctors refuse to perform it in front of boys before age 4.
About 5,000 circumcisions are performed annually in Italy, but more than a third of them are illegally realized. Circumcision is not a service currently offered at public health institutes there, while performing it in a private clinic costs 2 to 4 thousand euros.
As a result, those who do not have economic opportunities end up in the hands of non-professive people who carry out the procedure for between 20 and 50 euros.
