KDI: Women in rural areas have basic obstacles to participation in public life

Women continue to face basic problems that condition their equal participation in the labour market and public life. Especially those living in villages face lack of basic health services, lack of day - to - day nests, and prevent them from being active at the job market or for [...]
It is these problems that women from the Church of Milosevo and Lithithish Community of Obilics, who during two separate meetings organised by the Kosovo Democratic Institute (KDI) with municipal representatives, demanded their solution and advancing the position of women in this region.
Since this municipality only operates as a primary Family Medicine Centre, recently established in Miloshev, it is not meeting-longing the needs and demands of citizens, so women present at these meetings considered it necessary to extend the working hours of this centre.
It's the same situation with the gynecologist's presence in the community. Even though the schedule of the gynaecologist is eight or so, his/her presence is only three hours away and other activities outside this hour women must address Pristina. The lack of a nursery is another challenge that women in this community value as a means that would easily benefit them from their labor and advancement. Since in the municipality of Obilic it was only a public call, the establishment of a new nest or the establishment of capacities for most of my concerns in the existing meeting would contribute a lot to the welfare of women in the community of CDI, but also to children in particular, considered present at these meetings.
While the director of the Directorate for Finance in the Obilic Community, Zarife Behluli, who was present at the meetings, unveiled the municipal plans involving the end of infrastructure during 2019. According to her, there will also be steps for investments affecting the welfare of citizens in particular but women's welfare, providing them with activities and capacity-building.
