The general who was declared an honorary citizen in Decan: Focus on economic development for young people to stay here

This honour, the American military, was shown in recognition of the contribution given to the Kosovo war, the support and empowerment of its citizenship, and the support of Kosovo in Euro-Atlantic integrations.

The handover of this decision, the US general, was held at a special ceremony attended by Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj, KSF Commander Lieutenant General Tman Rama, as well as other representatives from the central and local government as well as the KSF.

After accepting the decoration as “Honourary Citizen of Decani”, American General John Boyd expressed great gratitude, saying he would never forget this day, which, according to him, gives him an eternity of friendship with Decanin.

The general, citing the recent commitment along with the firefighters of this city, said KFOR has excellent co-operation with local institutions to ensure security for all citizens. He backed Ramosj's word, when he said Decani should focus on economic development so that young people do not leave the country.

I highly appreciate your attitude to focus on economic development because it should focus on you and the central government in order to enable the potential of this country and young people to move forward in their country”, General Boyd said.

Decani Mayor Bashkim Ramosaj, through General Boyd, expressed gratitude for all US and NATO military men who, according to him, promote peace and guarantee global security.

Recalling pre-war problems and the consequences behind it, Ramosaj said Decani is trying to overcome the difficulties he faced in the past and have a sustainable economic development based on the resources of this municipality.

Dear General, our municipality and your city, since its establishment, has had a difficult walk along past systems, both prewar and post-reliance, unable to have its own concept of sustainable economic development. In the time of the end, we are focused both on the local and central levels with common commitment to provide solutions to the developmental concept that is essential for us to live on a higher standard using resources and the potential that our municipality has”, delaroi Ramosaj.

While Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said the decision to declare General Boyd an honorary citizen is a shooting and noble decision by the Decani municipality.

Speaking of the friendship between Kosovo and the United States, which is also the birthplace of the decorated general, Haradinaj said that the people should play their part to preserve this friendship and that, according to him, we do so by respecting the minority communities living in Kosovo.

“One way to reward the great support America has given to Kosovo is to govern well, create jobs, but another way is to respect other ethnic communities living in Kosovo, starting with Serbs, Turks, Roma, Ashkali, Bosniaks, Goranians, Egypt, and anyone living in our country. Respect religious values and diversity and act as a homeowner who knows how to honor his home, and so does his friend. I am convinced that we will not disappoint our friends with the jobs we will do in Kosovo”, Haradinaj said.

The Kosovo chief executive said the people of Kosovo have decided to be alongside the US and the values that Washington represents.
