“On a day like this, 30 years ago, more than 1,300 Trepca miners refused to work, descend into the mine's files, as a sign of discontent and protest against the regime that had decided to suppress Kosovo's autonomy. The Trepca miners no doubt have even the major merits in senbilising Kosovo Albanians, who joined those in the mass uprising, which had raged the regime in Belgrade. After the miners' strike, the world's interest in Kosovo was renewed, and it made clear that it was an unresolved problem in this part of Europe.
