Kosovo Corresponding Service officers have protested before the Government to express their dissatisfaction with the wage bill. In this case, they have demanded that President Hashim Thaci not sign the wage law, until their cofficient is established from 1.85 to 2.2. As, after the protest, Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri met all protesters, promising that all demands will be realised within a nine-month period.
The Chairman of the Correcting Service Union, Zenun Sadiki, said they are constantly overlooked compared to other security institutions and that they are the victims of people, as he describes them as indicted.
With harsh tones, Sadij has criticised all of them have not committed the correcting Service to better treatment. While stating that the law on wages is discriminatory and called on the president not to decree it until all their demands are met, including the risk of their work.
We were forced by those who ignored us, those who forgot our name of the Correct Service who didn't figure anything out in the salary law. Shame on those who don't do their jobs on purpose or without purpose. We are the victims of people indicted by those who are sitting on coughs and at all are not responsible for their non-work ... staff does not agree with the cofficiency of 1.85, requires cofficiency 2.2 as members of the Kosovo Police, as if you promised. The staff is indignant not to keep their promise to us, as you have stated before the media, Mr. Minister. Under three risk, be 40 percent for all indiscriminately. Under four support and civilian staff, they are angry at the fact that they are not notified of cofficiency in their positions and they are looking for 40 percent risklessness. Under five, president don't sign the law for salaries, that's what the 1,700 Corresponding Service workers” require, he said.
While the deputy head of this union, Frasher Racy, said the coefytors are very discriminating for the prison staff and therefore demanded that all corrective service be treated equally with other security institutions.
He made known all demands that the correctional officers and said the risk of their work is too high, and therefore it must be paid.
The rise of the coeficent, the corrective officers, the Cadets, the first year of cofficiency 1.90. Elevator officers from 1 to 5 years of work experience, 2.0. Correcting officers with work experience over 5 years of cofficiency 2.2. Cofficient supervisor 2.45, top co-ordinator 2.7. Head of ward 3.0. The 40 per cent extension to apply to correctional officers, civil staff and supporters”, Raci, vice chairman of the Union, said.
Following the protest, union chairman and several representatives were called to the meeting by Justice Minister Abelard Tahri.
And after the meeting, Minister Tahiri declared that all requirements of the Correcting Service are right and that he will commit to having all their demands realised within the next nine months.
According to him, they have made a working group, and for each sector they will become the entire job classification.
Tahiri, among other things, said his request has been for the pay to rise by 40 per cent in order to match the Kosovo Police.
“Within this space, the law allows us to establish cofficients, to be equal to the Kosovo police. If the law were implemented in a month, it would be a real problem. I think we have enough time I'm 100 percent in support of your demands, I've had enough commitment to fulfill your demands and during this period you're convinced that I'm going to keep you informed closely about what's going to happen, will we reach 100 percent of your application that has my support. So my request was for your salary to increase by 40 percent to reach the police and allow us 25 percent. The cofficient left with 1.85, but start with 2”, the minister said.
However, Chairman of the Correcting Service Union Zenun Sadiki after meeting with Tahiri said that even though they have failed to achieve the goal of doing as they thought, they have received promises from the minister that within the nine-month term they will work together to find a solution.
“We haven't achieved the goal of doing as we thought, the minister's promises we heard, have time and nine months, according to the minister to work together, the Union, our ministry, the minister with them. He's got to engage himself, maybe get to where our goal is. We ask the minister to be more engaged”, he said.
Disgusting with the wage law has led some public institutions to seek by President Hashim Thaci not to decree the law, as they are considering being wronged and for these reasons are calling for a rise of cofficients.
