He was very wanted in Belgium, but 29-year-old Albanian was arrested in Siena, Italy, where his wife lived.
Italian Karabiniers captured the Albanian, who is accused of human trafficking, in the village of Monteroni d'Arbia, in the vicinity of Syena.
But what took the 29-year-old to prison was his love for his wife. The wife had moved to the village of Monteroni d'Arbia two months earlier, while authorities were convinced it was only a matter of time when Albanian would appear there.
The house was placed under surveillance all the time and as soon as the Albanian showed up was immediately arrested.
Viewing it as his weak spot, Italian police observed the fugitive's wife, who had managed to escape several times.
The Albanian is accused of carrying out the trafficking of people from Asia and Africa to Belgium, to then proceed to the United Kingdom. He is allegedly one of the main trafficking figures in Belgium.
The 29-year-old will now be extradited to Belgium, where he could be sentenced until 20 years in prison if convicted. /tch
