India's Parliament has adopted a bill that would not grant Indian citizenship to immigrants if they are Muslims. This sparked violent protests by Muslims who saw the bill as “anti-mysliman”.
The students were the ones who protested in cities throughout India, against this divisive bill that does not grant citizenship to Muslims who entered the country illegally, the BBC writes.
From these protests we have six dead so far. On Monday the protests spread to university campuses in towns of Mambai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chandigargh, and Calcutta, with students attacking police with stones.
In Sunday's march against the bill in, police entered campus and arrested more than 100 students, beating activists in the streets and firing tear gas.
“Vision against student protesters cannot be justified under any circumstances. The charges that police brutally beat and sexually harassed students at the Jamia Milia Islamia University must be investigated, ” said in a statement Amnesty India.
So barricades and buses were established and the university remained closed on Monday, while nearby schools and offices in Delhi closed due to damage from Sunday's protests.
We remember that last week Rajya Sabha (the upper house of Parliament) has declared that, “Who are you worried about? Should we make Muslims from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan citizens of the country?... The country cannot function this way”
We remember that the three countries with the largest population of Muslims in the world are: Indonesia with Pakistan and India.
A brutal discrimination against Muslims in recent years has also exercised the People's Republic of China. /Periscope
