Germany officially accuses the Kremlin of carrying out an assassination on German soil, while the official Kremlin has flatly denied involvement in murder.
But the Russian government's willingness to illuminate the issue raised doubts. The killer who shot 40-year-old Khangosvili in Cleiner Tiergarten Park on August 23rd was arrested by police as he was trying to put the intended murder weapon in a channel, but so far has refused to co-operate during the questions, reports The Guardian, Periscopi.
The attacker had travelled to Germany with a Russian passport issued in the name of Vadim Sokolov, but experts have questioned the originality of the document from the beginning.
Based on a report by Dier Spiegel on Tuesday, Germany's top prosecutor-in-chief has decided to take over the case after forensic experts identified the same person, Vadim Sokolov, as wanted for the murder of a businessman in 2013.
According to research, Krasikov's data was cleaned up later by Russian databases. Khangosvili, an ethnic Chechen from Georgia's Pankis Gree, played a role in the separatist uprising against Russian forces in Chechnya, and the murder fits a pattern of blows against former Chechen rebels. /Periscope
