The film is the theme of the Labe song, Albanian popular polyphonic music, and the leading protagonists are Golik Yaupi, Volnet Silaj and Andrew Hodaj.
This film is called “Weshed by the Moon” (q. Washed on the Moon, based on a popular lab song entitled “Laber washed off the moon”.
Director Shutt tells of his first familiarity with this music, “I was working in London in 2016, when I heard a song called “Janina what the eyes saw”.
I immediately quit my job and flew to Albania. My childhood friend Isaac, a large cinematographer, and I ended up in the house where the independence of Albania was declared in 1912, with a local group of legendary polyphony singers.
The Lab Group visited the United Kingdom this year to first show these three thousand-year shepherding songs at the premiere of October 2019, Albanian newspaper writes today.
The group's members revolve around the principal voice, the powerful scuttle (cysoʹ) and various complex techniques of sound tweets, imitating goats, bells, and the sounds of the Albanian mountains. When the Lab Group sings, the earth trembles! ”
Dan Shutt further adds that, “When these groups sing shake window windows and the ground is shaken, literally! ”
We remember that the lab songs were released at the BBC four months ago. /Periscope
