170m euros for electricity generation projects from wind in Kosovo

German company “SOWI Kosovo” held the ceremony in the case of signing agreements on power generation projects from wind to Selac and Bajgora of Mitrovica with a total capacity of 105 megawatts, which will enable 10 per cent of the country's electricity production. Three power generation projects from the wind in Mitrovica bring one of the biggest post-war investments in Kosovo.
Germany's Ambassador to Pristina Christian Heldt said this investment proves that in Kosovo things are going towards successes and that this investment, according to him, is the biggest one that has been done in Kosovo since the 1980s.
This is the most appropriate signal at the right time and to prove that really things can be done here in Kosovo. I believe that this is a sign, a very good omen, and I'm very grateful for this because it shows that we are dealing with a friendly family effort, even such stories of success do not have only one mother or father, but very much and that's appropriate, because once again it might be stressed how much we can do if we join forces and the same thing applies to climate issues at a global times1>, Heldt said.
Israeli Board Chairman Jahir Surus said the project of 27 wind turbines with installed capacity in Kosovo would present the largest project built since the last 80th century.
The introduction of the financial agreement actually concerns the capacity of construction, trust between the parties involved, and this event implies the cementing of the agreement between all sides, not the opening of the project, but we have to do with the moment when we sign the signature and we are now committed. The 27-year project of wind turbines with installed capacity in Kosovo represents the largest project in the country since the 80th century, since investments in the energy sector have been made. When this project is completed, it will mean 10 per cent of electricity production, instead of being proud of”, Surus said.
Mitrovica municipality Chairman Agim Bahtiri said very happy and grateful to the collaborators that a 170m-euro investment will take place in the town of Mitrovica.
I as a citizen of Kosovo feel very proud to be here today, and we are hearing something good coming to Kosovo, especially I am proud as mayor of the Mitrovica municipality that this 170 million investment is coming to Mitrovica. To be said that 170 million in Mitrovica will be invested for someone has been absolute, because Mitrovica is known as a specific city with problems, but fortunately we have tried as mayor of the municipality and all of Kosovo's institutions, thanks to the internationals that today we have a quiet, stable Mitrovica, and that makes us proud of”, Bahtiri said.
Otherwise, the Kosovo government this year decided to grant strategic investor status to the German-Kosovo energy company “Sowi Kosovo L. L. C”, which in the last three years has measured wind in the region of Bigora. Under the project, production of 105 megawatts of electricity is planned, ranking Kosovo first in Southeast Europe.
