The United States of America wants Serbia and Kosovo to normalise their relations and thus pave the way for shared membership in the EU. Belgrade should interrupt efforts to delegate Kosovo's citizenship and independence, while Pristina removes the tax.
For the US, the independence of Kosovo is irreversible and indisputable, said US Special Representative for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer in an exclusive interview for Vojvodina public television RTV.
For the United States of America, there is neither a question nor a dilemma regarding Kosovo's independence and citizenship. Kosovo's independence is irreversible, while until normalisation of relations between Serbia and Kosovo should be imposed through dialogue and reaching an agreement, it has declared for Vojvodina public Radio Television RTV, US Special Representative for the Western Balkans Matthew Palmer, broadcasts RTKlives.
The US, through support for dialogue on reaching the two-way agreement, is not intended to side-by-side, rather aimed at supporting both sides, he said.
The agreement, which advances and strengthens stability and peace, must be very dimensional and includes issues related to politics, security and other issues, such as the human rights problem, citizens' freedom, as well as treasury protection and cultural heritage, has measured Palmer in the interview for Vojvodina Public Television.
He said that during his stay in Pristina, he has given a very clear message that the tax on Serbian goods should be removed, as this is the only way to normalise relations with Serbia and establish dialogue.
The deal can only be reached if both sides approach their positions, Palmer has stressed, while adding that the US will not impose a solution for either party.
The United States of America wants to create a positive atmosphere, which does not exist now, but will be established if Belgrade discontinues efforts to delegate Kosovo's citizenship and independence, while Pristina removes the tax, has posted Palmer, while repeating the position that Kosovo's independence is irreversible and indisputable for the US.
