The outgoing government insists that the Dukagjin highway be built, while in the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo declare that this project will be stopped, as Dukagjin cities do not need a closed-type highway. They even say that this project will be investigated.
Even though the outgoing government has spent over 1m euros on the feasibility of the Dukagjini Highway project, the two parties expected to form the new Government have a firm stance to stop this infrastructure project from accomplishing.
However, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has earmarked another 50m euros in 2020 for this highway connecting the Istog municipalities. - Five. -Decan-Gjakovo-Prizren, at over 90 kilometers of length, writes Kosova Preris.
In office Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj said the government coming from the VV and LDK could scan or delay the Dukagjin highway project, but this project is unavoidable.
Haradinaj says this highway must be built because it benefits the economy and interests every citizen of Dukagjin. He claims budgetary tools have been allocated for this project, and for next year, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport has earmarked over 50m euros for 2020.
However, the outgoing prime minister says that the life of this project now remains in the hands of the new Kosovo government.
“On Highways (Dukagin), I think it's under way, feasibility and all other aspects have been made. It's also a separate budget. The highway is not a one-day project. This government may be stable or delayed, but it will be impossible even for this government. The idea that we just expand the road is a confusing thing going on. The existing path, or expansion, has another character. But it's impossible for that area without a highway... As it may be, we are convinced that some attitudes or declarative opposition can change shape during the” government, Haradinaj declares.
However, representatives of the Vetevendosje Movement and the Democratic League of Kosovo -- parties expected to form the new government -- have been declared not to allow construction of the Dukagjin highway.
From VV Besnik Bislimi told Kosova Preris, that the Dukagjini highway project will be stopped, even investigated by the new government. Bislimin indicates that several other projects will be investigated that have been launched by the government on leave with several suspicious corrupt contracts.
The Haradinaj has not taken very much care of major projects, in something that has a huge impact on the economy. More has been focused on projects where there is a lot of money circulation and therefore there are great opportunities for profit on the side. In this dispute, many processes have also begun, not with the idea to complete them, but with only some image of working and starting maybe having some benefits. It's not just the Dukagjin highway, but it's also about the NEG contract. It's another contract with Pristina Airport. There are a lot of bajagi corrupt contracts, which will not only be stopped, but will also be investigated”, Bislim said.
Similarly, LDK spokesman Besian Mustafa claims that Dukagjin cities do not need a closed-type highway, so this party does not support such a project, but an extension of the road from which citizens and businesses would benefit from that part.
We've declared and seen an expansion of the existing magistrates, so we see it as the most beneficial for the citizens of that region to have an extensive magistrate, not a closed highway that is not accessible to citizens and businesses. So we see it as the most profitable for the citizens of Dukagjini and for businesses in that region”, Mustafa says.
Besides the highway, the new government will be challenged with two other projects -- the one for the new “Kosovo” and the sovereign Fund.
Faithful Bislimi says the need for additional clarifications with the country's potential government partner has been seen, but there are no reserves.
Besian Mustafa adds that the final decision on energy projects and the sovereign Fund is the topic they will have during meetings between political leaders Isa Mustaf and Albin Kurti.
