Disturbing numbers: Family violence cases recorded in Kosovo within 1700

So said at the conference organised by O The SEU, where the results of the Women's Goodness and Security Survey were released in Kosovo on the eve of November 25th International Day of Elimination of Violence on Women, and the launch of the campaign “16 Days of Activism”.
O mission chief The SBE in Kosovo, Jan Braathu, said domestic violence is not a phenomenon that is present only in Kosovo, but worldwide. According to him, this report shows that 2 percent of women have reported violence by partners, while a third have felt well informed of their services at their disposal.
Kosovo President Hashim Thaci said Kosovo society should be aware that the emancipation and empowering of women is empowerment and emancipation for our entire society. According to him, Kosovo has made great steps for advancing women into society and that this is only the beginning. There are still steps to take in the woman's advancement.
EU Office in Kosovo chief Natalia Apostolova said domestic violence is a global phenomenon and is difficult as a phenomenon to fight.
For Kosovo society, she considered it an important achievement to establish a basic date for cases of domestic violence.
” The poll stresses that support of services and shelters for women are missing. We encourage Government and municipalities to keep their housing and financing stable and to become workers' training”, Apostolova said.
While Kosovo's co-ordinator against domestic violence, Naim Celaj said that only in this year were there registered in the date created 1700 cases of domestic violence. According to him, Kosovo has created good legal grounds for fighting this negative phenomenon.
