KEDS: We have reduced accidents by 40 percent

KED executive director Aleper Elbas said that the safety and health of workers is extremely important, so according to him, with the establishment of the Center for Training aimed at having zero percent accidents in the workplace.

The health security is extremely important, because as you know when we started building this training center, we had only one dream of having 0 accidents. In the past two years, we have reduced accidents by 40%, which is not enough for us, but for starters it's good. We train employees only for health and security perspectives, 45,000 hours which is not enough, and I'm telling the teams to increase and release instructions”, he said.

The director of human resources to KED, Valbona Kadrijaj, said that since KDS workers operate in a high-risk environment, this company takes a series of measures to provide safe environment at the workplace.

She even said that, along with many KED training since 2018, she has opened the training center through which the best practices for safety and health are being offered at work.

“We've advanced further by raising the level of responsibility and, as a result, in 2018 we've established the training center that we are at today and from November 2018 to continue to organize training at this centre for different levels of responsibility for employees of different divisions. Using our best practices is to develop a system of security management and health at work. Job Inspectorate Chief Inspector Valon Leci said that the Labour Inspectorate has worked long in the awareness of workers for health and safety at work.

Unfortunately, this year we have some people who have lost their lives as a result of contact with electricity, I hope that even this forum and this week that has to do with security and health at work to raise awareness of all parties to be saved from even this part I'm not targeting anyone, but we have 4 or 5 people who have lost their lives as a result of contact with electricity. That's not good news. We hope that everyone in the segment we cover in the coming years will have minimal accidents at the workplace”, Leci said.
