Oncology Clinic Director Ilir Kurtishi has said that so far the number of breast cancer women has increased to 3 to 4 %.
In comparison to last year in Kosovo, we have recorded a number of 3 to 4 percent more than last year, and we pray that this number by the end of the year will not exceed 400%.
This trend of growing incidents of these malignant diseases is the same in all Balkan countries, but it is not so alarming. There may be an unreported case of us seeking treatment outside Kosovo, but within the year they receive the Oncology service”, Kurtishi indicated.
This examination of cases of cancer - stricken women, says Kurtish 70 percent, turns out to be accurate, but in countries in the region, the number is much higher than in Kosovo.
The “as far as oncology clinic is concerned this 70 percent identity is correct and since there is a growing tendency of malaria disease, this is the same as it happens in every country in the region. In Albania each year, a number twice as many as us are identified, or even in Macedonia, where they have an almost same population”.
breast cancer is a disease that affects males as well. According to oncologist, in Kosovo, 10 men with cancer are reported every year.
It's interesting that breast cancer is not only reported to women, but also to men. In Kosovo almost every year, we have 10 men sick of this disease and always in men this disease is much more aggressive, even though treatment is the same. So this is not favourable”.
Kurtish points out that symptoms are the same for both genders.
There are no symptoms. That's why we also recommend that women after the age of 40 have routine tests that we find this disease earlier. When the signs are announced, then the disease is advanced, but it's more characteristic that the female is reported to the doctor is if she notices a gland, a lump in her breast that she didn't have before”.
But this too is usually ignored by the patient and informed when his hand begins to hurt or when he begins to change breast skin color, or if he starts flowing by breast, when he begins to experience more frequent pain, difficulty during sleep, these are the signs that characterize this disease”, he told EO.
Kurtishh further suggests that the factors that contribute to the development of this disease are different, ranging from age to quality of life.
The risks leading up to mountain diseases are different, we divide them into two groups: internal and external factors. Internal factors include gender, genetic predisposition, and age. Meanwhile, external factors are different, starting with inadequate food, using different drugs affects this disease, smoking, ionizing radiation, non-cult life, non- physical activity, and so on”, he said.
In terms of treatment for this disease, Kurtish said that sometimes they have a weekly shortage of one of the drugs, but now with the introduction of the list of essential drugs, they expect to have a complete package, especially for breast disease.
October, worldwide is the month of awareness of fighting breast cancer. Kurtishi said the motto for this month is “To fight together and fight this disease”.
