The European Association for the Security of Quality at Higher Education (ENQA) has made a decision to exclude the Kosovo Agency for Accreditation (AKA).
The Kosovo Agency for Accreditation had become part of the ENQA in 2014 as a full-fledged member for a period of five years. Last year The ENQA lowered the status of the Agency from full-fledged member to member under consideration because of political interference in this institution.
This, after, in September 2017, Education Minister Shyqi, Bytyqi at the request of Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj fired the Agency's board and the task manager of the institution.
Because of this intervention, the European Writer for High Education Security (EQAR) ruled out the Agency on the grounds that it lost its autonomy.
The Kosovo Agency for Accreditation, months ago, was introduced in the process of assessing the ENQA.
ENQA President Christoph Grolimund, through a letter sent to the Agency, has told of the reasons for this ENQA board decision on the fate of the AKA, a decision made on September 19th.
In the letter containing “Koha Ditore”, the board of The ENQA has concluded that the overall level of compatibility with the Standards and guidelines for ensuring quality in the European Higher Education Space (ESG) is not enough to improve the Agency's membership in this phase.
