Ahmeti: Early elections not to undermine NATO membership process

Ahmeti and Ambassador Romeo discussed the political situation in Macedonia and the region, the European Union Council's decision, early elections.
Ahmeti stressed that DUI has insisted that early elections do not undermine the NATO membership process and therefore has been proposed holding elections in the spring rather than in December or January.
The realisation of the protocol for NATO membership in our country should not be questioned because our country's membership in the Atlantic alliance is the absolute priority of DUI, Albanians and all citizens. Ahmeti welcomed the dedication of all parties in the country to continue the path of reforms and integration into the European Union. Italian Ambassador stressed that his country has a clear position and fully supports the membership of northern Macedonia and Albania”, the DUI communiqué says.
Mayor Ahmeti thanked Italy for ratifying the protocol for NATO membership, supporting the start date for negotiations, as well as for strong statements in support of our region.
Ahmeti stressed that DUI will continue reform efforts even in the period ahead of us by engaging in consensual integration, unselective justice, vetoing and transparency of public activity, quality life, jobs and the approach of standards with the European Union that will enable youth to build the future in its own country.
