Russia's first in this long interview has talked about world problems, Europe & Rajon, as well as in particular emphasis on the Kosovo issue with Serbia.
Putin, among other things, says Americans are resusciting math “in Balkan countries.
“... when we talk about the situation in the Balkans, a serious destabilising factor here is the policy of the United States and certain Western countries, aimed at strengthening their dominance in the region. In 1999, NATO forces bombed Yugoslavia without a UN sanction for two and a half months and then forcibly divided the Autonomous Wing of Kosovo. While, in 2008, Washington and its allies supported an illegal declaration of Kosovo independence”, it has indicated, broadcast Indesksonline
Speaking to the countries of the region, Putin stressed that official Moscow remains committed to respecting the rights and interests of Balkan countries and nations to respect international laws.
The Russian president also spoke of forming the Kosovo Army. According to him, it is a violation and that the EU erred that it did not take action against Pristina's decision.
Serbia can always count on Russia's support for defence potential, even though they are surrounded by NATO member states. It is a surprise that many countries in the region supported the formation of the so-called Kosovo Army”, he has indicated.
In the end, Putin points out he highly appreciates the Serbian leadership's strong commitment on the road to preserving the country's neutrality.
We will continue to develop military-technical co-operation. I will not hide the fact that I have been surprised by the silence of the European Union over the decision of Kosovo's “Parliament” in transforming the Kosovo Security Force into a real army. Because it is clear that Serbs living in this province have experienced such an act as a direct threat to their security. Otherwise, this movement creates a serious risk of the situation in the region. So it is not in the interest of the EU to close its eyes with such unilateral actions, which seriously violate international law, especially if Brussels is calculated to continue meeting its obligations as mediator in dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina”, it has declared.
