According to data from a World Health Organization report (OBSH), about 2.3 million of these deaths in 2016 were men, and about 29% of alcohol - related deaths were due to injuries, including traffic or suicide accidents.
The report, published every four years, discusses the ongoing effects of alcohol on public health worldwide and highlights that young people are the most affected. 13.5% of the total number of alcohol victims are young in their 20s. The report also emphasizes that alcohol consumption is greater in the poor than in the rich.
O Experts BSH's say that the effects of alcohol are enormous. Unfortunately, the implementation of more effective policies lies, according to them, well behind the problem's management, and according to predictions, alcohol consumption will continue to rise in the years ahead.
Europe remains the region that consumes more alcohol on a global scale and is guilty of more than 10% of all deaths on the continent.
