However, shortly after his VV membership, people's reactions and media reports began, raising dilemmas on Berisha's past, which has an interesting history. While Berisha himself sees VV membership as his second sacrifice for Kosovo, Periscopi writes.
It burdens a charge of assistance in attempted murder. Berisha's case had occurred in 2000, when he was accused of helping his brother to try to kill Besa Gashi at the Youth Palace in Pristina. Berisha was accused by the prosecution of keeping Besa Gashi's two brothers under threat with weapons, but the 12-year trial had ended in his favour. He was declared innocent of all local courts.
For Berisha, it was also reported in 2016 through media on hiding a business in the property declaration, which is destined for public officials, when he was chief of the Kosovo Consulate in Frankfurt.

For this, an investigation was launched by the Anti-Corruption Agency, but was closed very soon.
These criticisms of the Vetevendosje Movement for Berisha's membership have been answered by its leader, Albin Kurti.
Kurti, in a show at KTV, has not taken responsibility for Berisha, saying he cannot play the judge's role towards each individual and that he cannot be informed of every detail of their lives.
Moreover, Kurti has said that Berisha knows him as a good fighter.
I Ajvaz Berisha several times, along with Banca Ademi, but also without Basca Ademi, during the war in Kosovo, mainly in the Drenica Zone, when we went to the General Staff, Berisha, Divijak, and so on. It means, during very difficult times, he was a very good fighter. But... look I can't guarantee for people what they did in their lives in detail”, Kurt said.
Kurti has said that in Berisha's case he knows he was not directly involved, but because of his brother.
And as far as I know, it's about some situation where his brother is involved, not this one. I say it again, Ajvaz Berisha is a member of the Vetevendosje Movement. Any information that appears... are the bodies of the Vetevendosje Movement that treat such a thing. It's not up to me as head to make a judge or a jury in whatever situation everyone is. He's a member of Vetevendosje, has expressed interest in membership, has joined the Vetvendosje Centre in Drenas and is working and I'm saying I can't guarantee for any individual, but as far as I know he was a good fighter.
