Tsipras named this decision “act of justice”, which will boost the friendship between the two countries.
Through a statement, Prime Minister Tsipras has thanked two soldiers and their families for their “insistence and patience”, while soldiers were being held in a prison in the Turkish city of Edirne.
The detention of two Greek soldiers by Turkish authorities increased tensions between the two neighbouring states.
Greece has declared that soldiers have wrongly crossed the border and entered Turkish territory, while following the footsteps of migrants entering illegal territory.
A court in Turkey, which has ordered the release of two soldiers, has said they were accused of illegal border crossings and attempts at military spying.
