When Thaci misuses Rugova

When Thaci misuses Rugova

In an interview given in 1994, the incumbent LDK chairman Ibrahim Rugova, in the question of two former journalists from the newspaper “Zeri” ) Blerim Shala, currently adviser to President Thaci, and Halil Matoshi, currently adviser to Prime Minister Haradinaj (what irony!) what he thought about the idea of dividing [...]

Kosovo's partition is unacceptable for us. We can only exchange territories, so that for Leposaviqi and some territories in northern Kosovo, inhabited with the Serb majority, we can win Presevo and other parts of southern Serbia, inhabited by the Albanian majority. ”

To be perfectly honest with you, I heard about this interview from Rugova just a few days ago, thanks to the current president of Kosovo who, in addition, is internationally known for research on the field of international history and relations!

But how is it that President Thaci, who once named Rugova a traitor, is now referring to an interview of his, where he expresses the pro exchange of territories with Serbia?

In my opinion, there are three main reasons why he is misusing Rugova's interview.

First, by bringing back this interview of the late Rugova, Thaci aims to reason on his state betrayal in relation to Serbia by giving the latter the northern part of Kosovo and, in exchange for it, taking some sweats in the southern part of Serbia. Second, decontacting the interview completely in question, President Thaci also aims to say that the idea of partitioning Kosovo is not the result of its continuing concessions in dialogue with Serbia, but the consistency of ideas that have circulated since pre-war times. And third, by misusing Rugova's figure, his fat is to deceive the Democratic League of Kosovo to become again part of compromises at the expense of Kosovo's citizenship, as he has done from 2008 onward.

However, besides Thaci's anti-state motives and actions, the call in a Rugova interview shows, in essence, that he and his advisers understand nothing from the dialect of politics.

Why?

Because the time and circumstance context when Rugova was declared in favor of the idea of exchanging territories was completely different. As known by everyone, Kosovo was then effectively controlled by Serbian police and military forces, which kept Kosovo occupied.

Today, however, to re-actualize such an idea by the time Kosovo was freed from Serbia, has declared its independence in 2008, and has been recognised by more than a hundred different countries in the world, it is the most foolish, not only political but human.

With this logic, Kosovo would have to seek autonomy within Serbia, since shortly after the annulment of Kosovo's autonomy Rugova was declared (in an interview) against lifting autonomy!

Indeed, only one man who has severed his ties with the people could do so much damage to his nation as President Thaci.
