Hashim Thaci: There will be no division and exchange of territories

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci said today that the final agreement with Serbia should include mutual recognition between the two countries and our country's membership in international organisations, while rejecting the possibility of dividing and exchanging territories.

He in an interview for the Austrian newspaper “Der Standard”, said the idea for restructuring borders with Serbia so far has not been at the negotiating table in Brussels.

Each agreement only makes sense when it comes to bilateral recognition, and Kosovo becomes a full member of the international community and the United Nations”, Thaci said.

The head of our country said that the idea for correcting the borders is his and that the idea for inclusion of the Presevo Valley is also his own, and that he has not been subject to talks with Vuciq.

But we'll talk about it. I want to act rationally. There are big differences, but the only way is to continue dialogue. Without an agreement, we stumble each other on the road to the EU” said Thaci.

Asked what he expects from the Serbian president's appearance in northern Kosovo, this visit warned for September 8th-9th, President Thaci said Kosovo will not be divided and that there will be no exchange of territories

Kosovo will retain multiethnic spirit. But we must work to resolve the hostilities that have existed for 200 years. We should not be hostage to the borders set during Tito's Yugoslavia. Yugoslavia no longer exists. Kosovo has good neighbourly relations with all its neighbours, Macedonia, Montenegro and Albania. Therefore, no one should feel threatened by a possible agreement between Kosovo and Serbia”, President Thaci has said.
