The EU's office in Kosovo has been promoted on the issue of prosecutor Elez Blakaj, saying independence and autonomy of the judiciary, including the prosecution, is of crucial importance in this context and must be secured.
It on this occasion invites all to refrain from any attacks against institutions of rule of law, including any personal and defamatory remarks against prosecutors or individual judges.
The statements of some Kosovo politicians and prosecutors in this direction undermine the principal principles of rule of law. Moreover, they also send discouraging signals to all judicial officials dealing with sensitive and significant cases”, the statement said.
The EU reiterates that pending investigations should continue with professionalism and full respect for rule of law, without any interference.
