Ervin from Tirana was lucky because he miraculously escaped yesterday's tragedy in Italy.
The 29-year-old boy from Tirana, but since 5 years old lives in Genoa, Italy, witnessed the tragedy that occurred yesterday morning when a part of the Morandi bridge collapsed causing more than 30 deaths so far.
He tells about the clock. The minutes that he was separated from death.
I had obtained some material from the warehouse where I work, just 30 feet [10 m] from the Morandi Bridge in Genova, Italy, to be transported by truck to the right destination.
I was gonna cross the highway. It was 11:40 minutes. It rained heavy and the view was very cloudy.
I just passed 300-400 yards. I heard a loud noise. I stopped the car and opened the glass. I saw the bridge going down and the cars flew into the air.
I didn't believe it because the rain was too heavy. The bridge went down within seconds while the vehicles were in flight”
Asked whether he has heard that there may be Albanians affected by this tragedy, Ervin relates:
When I returned to the warehouse an hour and a half later, I saw several family members asking about their son.
They were unable to communicate on the phone, and they feared that he had driven to the highway at the time of the tragedy, but I don't know if the family could find the boy anymore.
I haven't heard from myself. Not even the Italian media I'm following have said anything so far”
