Designed by her father, Mohammed, who suffers from the same cognitive disorder, the improvised legs were created to protect her from hot, dirty, and dusty terrain.
With improvised prosthetics, Maya was able to get out of her tent and could even attend camp school.
But after photographs of her difficulties spread worldwide, the intervention of the Turkish Red Halfage and the father and daughter were evacuated and brought to Istanbul for treatment. Today the media have published new photos of it with its new prosthetic limbs.
