This is what was supposed to happen, as NATO summit conclusions in draft read that Macedonia would receive this Wednesday invitation for membership, following the conclusion of all the first day of the meeting procedures.
“in 2008 we have decided that NATO would extend Macedonia's invitation to NATO entry, after a common name solution was found, following a stalemate with Greece, based on UN frameworks. We welcome the historic agreement between Athens and Skopje for resolving the name issue. In compliance with our policy we have decided to invite the government to Skopje to start talks with the alliance. The complete implementation of all procedures on the name issue agreement, which is also the condition for completing the entry process”, the conclusions were said in the draft.
Conclusions also welcomed the deal with Bulgaria.
“we welcome the government's efforts in the last year and the significant progress they have achieved for certain priority reforms and encourage additional reforms to reinforce contributions to the” coalition, it says.
NATO also welcomed efforts to build multiethnic society and called for efforts to continue fully in this area. Stoltenberg also welcomed on behalf of the alliance Macedonia's contribution to its missions and international security. /top Channel
