Over 990,000 people have moved to Syria in the first four months of this year -- this record in the seven-year conflict -- the United Nations reported today.
The UN humanitarian co-ordinator for Syria, Panos Mumcis, told the UN media conference in Geneva that the military crossing could complicate the situation in Idlib more than in other war zones in Syria.
He already expressed concern over recent air strikes in the province of Idlib, which is under the control of rebels.
According to him, the UN humanitarian organisation OCHA is on high alert because of the possibility of a new shift of about two million people to Idlib and added that “no longer has to go” within Syria.
Otherwise, the Syrian Human Rights Observatory announced that dozens of people in Idlib lost their lives on Wednesday.
